HOT AIR BALLOON FIESTA 2010
Posted by AC on Sunday Feb 21, 2010Since we had nothing to do on Valentine’s Day (yes, I never celebrated V-Day, single or attached), my brother and I decided to go to the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Pampanga. He has been an active participant in this event for a couple of years now as he is a student pilot and his schools (PATTS & Omni Aviation) have always been part of the fest. And so, the trip was planned, together with my brother’s girlfriend and my 2 other friends.
The night before our scheduled trip to Pampanga, I wasn’t feeling well and slept for barely 2 hours and so, I woke up late. Hence, went to Clark late. FYI, If you guys have plans of going to the next Hot Air Balloon Fest and if you’re coming from Manila, better leave by 2AM. Why? Coz 4-5AM is the perfect time for the fest. Those balloons usually flew out of Clark around that time then land in Porac and they are just being traveled back to Clark in the afternoon, almost night time.
We arrived at around 9 or 9:30AM. Balloons were already gone and the shows were over. My brother was supposed to be part of the exhibition of Omni, he was supposed to fly and do formations together with his classmates up in the air but we were late that he wasn’t able to attend the briefing.
Since we were left with nothing to do, we just took pictures of everything in the fest sans the balloons. Awwww..
There were booths..

After a quick photo op, we went to Subic just to kill time (I thought perhaps photo op with the balloons would be better come night time). We spent time window shopping/shopping/food tripping in Subic… good activity, I guess.. coz I loooove Meat Plus Cafe.
Sarap!

Come 5PM we headed back to Clark, hoping that the balloons have already arrived. Yes, they were there.. however, the shows at night were over. And so was the display of balloons. We were able to go near the balloons but I wasn’t able to take much pictures as people were already folding some of the balloons when we arrived.
I wasn’t able to see Tortie in the sky…

The hardest part of this trip was the way out of Pampanga… the Expressway wasn’t that “express”, it was so congested and vehicles weren’t moving.. We were almost drained when we got home. Nevertheless, it was a fun trip coz I didn’t just enjoy being with my friends, I also had the chance to bond with my brother (which we hardly do nowadays) and his new ladylove.
Just like any other typical romantic comedy flicks, Valentine’s Day won’t require much analysis as everything was depicted in a very comprehensible manner. It just needs a little sensitivity as it’ll tickle you to the bones. Forgive me, this is a chick flick.. and I’d like to believe I’m a chick.
