HOT AIR BALLOON FIESTA 2010

Posted by AC on Sunday Feb 21, 2010

Since we had nothing to do on Valentine’s Day (yes, I never celebrated V-Day, single or attached), my brother and I decided to go to the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Pampanga. He has been an active participant in this event for a couple of years now as he is a student pilot and his schools (PATTS & Omni Aviation) have always been part of the fest.  And so, the trip was planned, together with my brother’s girlfriend and my 2 other friends.

The night before our scheduled trip to Pampanga, I wasn’t feeling well and slept for barely 2 hours and so, I woke up late. Hence, went to Clark late. FYI, If you guys have plans of going to the next Hot Air Balloon Fest and if you’re coming from Manila, better leave by 2AM. Why? Coz 4-5AM is the perfect time for the fest. Those balloons usually flew out of Clark around that time then land in Porac and they are just being traveled back to Clark in the afternoon, almost night time.

We arrived at around 9 or 9:30AM. Balloons were already gone and the shows were over. My brother was supposed to be part of the exhibition of Omni, he was supposed to fly and do formations together with his classmates up in the air but we were late that he wasn’t able to attend the briefing.

Since we were left with nothing to do, we just took pictures of everything in the fest sans the balloons. Awwww..

There were booths..

Bunch of people ….

PICNIC time!

Spiderman

Batman

Batman & Robin and... Wapakman :P

Tora-tora

Some decors…

Helicopter

Patay kang bata ka!

ARMY ang piliin...

Dahil ang ARMY -- Always Ready to Marry You :P

May job fair pa kasama tong kapre na to

I hate yellow.. Pramis.

After a quick photo op, we went to Subic just to kill time (I thought perhaps photo op with the balloons would be better come night time). We spent time window shopping/shopping/food tripping in Subic… good activity, I guess.. coz I loooove Meat Plus Cafe.

Sarap!

Isa pa!

At isa pa ulet! Yum!

Ayan busog!

Come 5PM we headed back to Clark, hoping that the balloons have already arrived. Yes, they were there.. however, the shows at night were over. And so was the display of balloons. We were able to go near the balloons but I wasn’t able to take much pictures as people were already folding some of the balloons when we arrived. :( I wasn’t able to see Tortie in the sky… :(

May araw pa..

Kokonti na lang sila.. :(

Si Tortie kumakaway

Sunny Boy :P

Tortie & Sunny :D

I hate YELLOW :P

Dedbols na sila.. :(

Nag-iisa ka na lang..

Last balloon "standing"

To ease my sadness, our photo op didn’t end there…  We had our usual “jumpshots”….

Sinong mabigat???

Wahahahha ang bigat talaga!

Ayun nakatalon din!

And lots and lots of pictures…

The hardest part of this trip was the way out of Pampanga… the Expressway wasn’t that “express”, it was so congested and vehicles weren’t moving.. We were almost drained when we got home. Nevertheless, it was a fun trip coz I didn’t just enjoy being with my friends, I also had the chance to bond with my brother (which we hardly do nowadays) and his new ladylove. :)

VALENTINE’S DAY

Posted by AC on Thursday Feb 18, 2010

Just like any other typical romantic comedy flicks, Valentine’s Day won’t require much analysis as everything was depicted in a very comprehensible manner. It just needs a little sensitivity as it’ll tickle you to the bones. Forgive me, this is a chick flick.. and I’d like to believe I’m a chick. ;)

This is a star-studded film (though not everybody had his/her own shining moment in the film), from Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner (yes, that wolf in New Moon) to the veteran ones like Ashton Kutcher, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner, etc. It’s nice that in Hollywood, even big stars don’t mind having small roles. They never seem to believe in small roles, it’s how much impact they made on the viewers that matters. And I hope the same goes here in the Philippines (Okay, talk about pride and all…)

It has shown love in different generations: puppy love, teenage romance, the mature kind of love and the one that goes as far as decades. It may be shallow, but there’s a lot of truth in it. But then again, it amused me that everything had to be told within 24hours, hence the title Valentine’s Day.. coz everything happened that day. They seem to have energy to the highest level that they had a day full of activities (Jennifer even had an RT LA-SanFo that day, went to the hospital where her boyfriend works then created a scene in a restaurant.. then back to Ashton’s place in LA) yet they still managed to survive and even had the strength and wit to find out bunch of facts and truth in just one day. Imagine, when he woke up, Reed (Ashton Kutcher) was so in love with Morley (Jessica Alba) that he proposed and in the middle of the day, Morley decided to call it quits then come night time, Julia (Jennifer Garner) the bestfriend and Reed seemed to grasp the truth that they love each other only after they broke up with their significant other.

Oooops, enough of scrutiny. I just told you, it won’t require much thinking.. but I’m still thinking pala. Hahaha! Kaya enough na. :)

To sum it all up, the movie is cute. Funny and inspiring. :) You know, sometimes I need a “feel good” movie like this.. just a breather from the toxic corporate world. Something that won’t make me cry. :)

BTW, I just realized that Taylor Swift is so cute and her role pretty much painted a “hilarious” text on her forehead. I was laughing hard while watching all her scenes.. talk about CRAZY in love. Literally. Haha! Also, it was amusing that McDreamy is part of the movie. He’s also a doctor here.

PS: The soundtrack is really cool I might download it as soon as I can. ;)

10 WORST “LOVE” SONGS OF ALL TIME

Posted by AC on Monday Feb 16, 2009

Since it’s the V-Season, love songs are being played everywhere – at home, on public utility vehicles, at the mall, bars.. and even in the office. And forgive me, I’m just aggravated by the radio at the office that’s tuned in to RJ 100 nearly 10 hours in a day. *sigh* Thus, my ears are always sealed by my earphones. Thanks to Microsoft, they have Media Player. And thank you to those who invented the mp3 player, I have an alternative.

In line with the season, I’m making my list of worst love songs instead of the usual list of cheesy/mushy/sweet love songs that would make your eyes twinkle and mouth create some arc.

Worst – those that either sound disturbing or confusing. Or some that have crappy lyrics or melody that won’t even make my heart melt. O kaya those love/heartbreak songs na instead of making me shed some tears e napatawa pa ako. Hihi..

Here they are:

  1. Stay (Cueshe) – I don’t like the band. Their music doesn’t soothe my soul. Neither relaxes my ears. This song won’t even make me stay had it been played/delivered by those men in my past. Worse, I’d stay away.. abruptly.
  2. Pwede Ba (Soapdish) – Talk about being pathetic. Can you just leave some dignity for yourself? Ummm..
  3. Realize (Colbie Caillat) – Ok payn. Haha!
  4. Baby Love (Nicole Scherzinger) – “You are my baby love, my baby love, my baby love” Huhuhu.. oo na, iyo na kung iyo.. di ko naman inaagaw. “We’re so in love.. lalalallaa.. yeah, we’re so in love, and I just can’t get enough of your love..” Haha! Pero I like the melody of this song.. yun lang, tinamad yata lyricist nito. I hate the “baby love” thingie, btw.
  5. Ever After (Bonnie Bailey) – I just don’t like it… anymore. (bawal mangialam kung baket, blog ko ‘to. Haha!)
  6. Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka (Regine Velasquez) – Don’t get me wrong, Regine is Regine. I like her music. But this one’s kinda confusing. Even the title alone is a bit puzzling. How could you ever dream of loving someone? When in fact you can love a person without even dreaming of loving him/her. Just like what I read in one of the broadsheets, parang ganito yun eh “Oist ang cute mo. Sana mahalin kita in the future. Pangarap ko yun e.” Parang ganito din yun eh, kunwari may nanliligaw sa kin tapos di ko sya type.. sige ganito na lang sasabihin ko “Di kita type talaga eh. Pero sana nga mahalin kita kase dream ko yun e. Kase sayang ka naman.” You either love the person or you don’t. Period.
  7. I Believe in Dreams (Janno Gibbs) – Isa pa ‘to. “I believe in dreams, And I believe in miracles.. I believe that toy balloons can reach and touch the moon.. Oh, and I know someday, I’ll have the chance to prove and say .. three simple words will come your way… I know I’ll have a chance someday” So.. meaning? O pangarap lang nya talaga sabihin ang “I Love You”? Hihi. I never really liked Janno pati, di ko kase maisip kung san lumalabas yung kanta.
  8. Why Can’t It Be (Rannie Raymundo) – “Why can’t it be, why can’t it be the two of us.. why can’t we be lovers, only friends.. you came along at the wrong place, at the wrong time” Ang tanong: Is there such thing called wrong place? Ano yun? I believe in the wrong TIME, like for example when a person is committed with somebody else or worse, married and not yet annulled (hahaha!) but I don’t believe in the RIGHT PLACE. Ang mantra ko kase: strike anywhere. ;) At sows, eto na naman po si pangarap “Baby I dream of you every minute, you’re in my dreams.. you’re always in it.. that’s the only place I know where you could be mine.. And I’m yours. But only til I wake up..”
  9. My Heart Will Go On (Celine Dion) – Wala lang. Haha! Kakaumay lang. Tapos parang for me the melody is not romatic eh.. parang tumatayo balahibo ko eh.. lalo na sabayan mo pa ng lyrics na “love can touch us one time.. and last for a lifetime..” tapos bibirit ng “mah heart will goooo ooooon and oooooonnnnnn!!!” ngiiiiii!
Hahaha! Napakamartir naman nitong si kantang na ‘to (although I always sing this song during my KTV moments.. hehe)

I’m done with my list. This is my opinion and nobody imposed me to like or dislike a particular thing.

Hehe.

You are free to post your comments. You can make your own list too if you want to. Let’s compare notes. ;)

UP FAIR & THE LOVE WEEK

Posted by AC on Sunday Feb 15, 2009

I just realized it’s UP Fair/Feb Fair already when I opened my Multiply account and saw several fair albums from my friends. *sniff sniff* (naiinggit ako) The last time I was there was 2 years ago. Ngayon kase I found no reason to come anymore. I lost my major reason why I go there every year.

And because it’s the love week and also the UP Fair, I’m having some sort of nostalgia nowadays.

Back in college (until the succeeding year after my graduation — wag nyo na tanungin kung anong year yun :P ) I was the fair’s aficionado. I was the typical university girl who befriends any good (when I say good they are the ones who approach me and share a nice conversation with me without “ere” and “pagnanasa”) people, or most of the time they are friends of my friends who eventually became my friends as well. Because of this warmth personality that I had when I was young (I’m sorry, I became supladita when I got older) I have lots of gimmick buddies and fair pals.

I enjoyed going to the university fair every February of the year (usually falls on the Valentines week). There were lots of gimmicks and unusual things that were happening during this week long celebration, though most of them were cheesy like the “harana” with matching flowers and chocolates. The fraternity which organizes this kind of activity is my ex’s; the weird thing is… he never gave me flowers. Sabi lang nya everytime I’d go to their booth at the field “Yan mamili ka na kung ano gusto mo” (sabay turo sa mga tira-tirang flowers from Baguio na napagpilian na at di na ni-arrange.) Wahahahaha!

I remember when I was in my freshman year some guys knocked and tried to enter my Math 11 class exactly on Valentines Day with bouquet of white roses (tama ba 2nd? haha! ) and my professor told them “mamaya na yan” (sabay sarado ng pinto ng malakas ampotek sapul sa muka nila). Come the end of the class, the guys approached me and asked me “ikaw ba si Annacel?” Tumango lang ako and they handed me the flowers and chocolates. After a few minutes somebody texted me saying “Ah ikaw pala pagbibigyan nila ng flowers. Kawawang mga bata, ang babata pa malabo na mata. Akalain mong ikaw pa bigyan.” Okay, he sounded so pa-cute.. mas lalo na nakakainis when I found out that it was my Math professor. Ewww… Patapos na ang semester when I found out na it was him. Yung # na yun matagal din nagtetext sa kin, madalas nakakatakot na kase mga text nya tipong “Hi, you’re the one in blue at McDo right now, aren’t you?” tsaka tipong “You look pretty in gray and black” tapos di ko alam kung sino sya. Stalker mode e. I just asked my friend/classmate to help me figure it out.

Ang nakakatawa pa… the guy who gave me flowers never became my boyfriend (bagets pa kase sya nun.. college na ko, HS pa lang sya) — and naging boyfriend ko yung brod nung nasa flower delivery. Haha!  But the guy who liked me first and gave me flowers eventually became my friend.. until now. Nakakasama ko pa minsan sa gimmick. :)

I miss my college days. I miss the fair. I miss my gimmick buddies. I miss my college friends. I miss my brods and sisses. I miss the “pamorningan” booze. I miss the green green grass on the green green grass of home (haha jowk! :D )

I’m not bitter ha. I just miss the romance in the air. ;)

Masarap talaga balikan ang kabataan. Yung mga feel good na memories nung araw. Ganito yata talaga ang pakiramdam ng tumatanda. Parang nauubusan na ng masasayang moments. Tapos hanggang daydream na lang. Hahaha! Oh well, pagbigyan ang may quarter life crisis.

Sabay ang background music ko dito “…someone to watch over me..” Hahaha! :P

COMFORT THINGIE

Posted by AC on Sunday Feb 17, 2008

It’s a post V-day syndrome I guess. Last night after office I headed to Chocolate Clothing warehouse sale in Pasig (near Wryl’s and my place) and ended up getting 5 tops. Most of them are of the same style but of different colors. I don’t know why I am now shopaholic when in fact I am soooo kuripot when it comes to fashion. I am comfortable just by wearing my usual office stuff like a pair of slacks and a cardigan or a pullover or my favorite spaghetti/tube tops inside a jacket. And when I am out with my friends I am happy at my reflection at the mirror wearing jeans and a tank top. But now look at me… muka nang tiangge ang kwarto ko sa dami ng blingbling na nakasabit and my closet seems full already. I guess my mom wonders why everytime I get home I have a top or two in my bag.. those items that I usually see at the mall on my way home.  Oh well, like what I always tell my friends, better look pretty than look ugly and show people that you are sad.

Earlier I went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned.  Like what other dentists say, he’s also suggesting that I wear braces since I have lots of impacted teeth that are not properly aligned with the rest of my teeth and that my cheeks are always the victim kapag namamali ng kagat.. kaya sya bugbog at mahshakkettt! Ayoko na! I was a prisoner of braces for about five years and I hate the idea of having them again.

After this blog I’ll go to the derma for a facial (na matagal ko nang di napupuntahan because of busy scheds and I was also afraid that she might suggest some treatments again that are so nakakabutas ng bulsa sa mahal at nakakabutas ng puso sa sakit.. hahaha)

Hmmm… what else? I want ICE MUMU!!! peaches and blueberries.. my favorite. After my session with the dermatologist I’ll go straight to Harvard where Nheng kills time. She’s so broed that’s why I’ll keep her company and entertain her. That way we’ll both have fun. 1 malungkot + 1 malungkot=MASAYANG INUMAN!!!!

Oh well.. Actually I am not really bitter. I am just confused and wondering why my time hasn’t arrived yet. Last night when I got home I was able to see the baptism of fire of KC Concepcion in the world of acting on TV.  Papa Derek’s so gwapo talaga and I really feel for him (Cheche knows that already as we were texting while watching.. ugali na namin yun).  Patience is a virtue.. and now my name is VIRTUE. Hahahaha! I hope someday my story will also have a happy ending. And I will be the happiest woman on earth.
