AWEFULL

It’s been months since DD and I broke up and I’m really living my life to the fullest. I enjoy being single and good thing, my friends are very supportive and always keep me company. I always tell them I need to have something new to look forward to. Like new activities, sports, parties, etc. One of the few things that I accomplished/will accomplish are: hitting the gym again (it’s been more than 2 years since I went to the gym); trying out cuisines that I used to hate; included marathon, rock climbing, bungee jumping (I have tried the zipline and I’m planning to go to the new one in Quezon City and also, the one in Davao.. hopefully soon) in my to-do list; reinventing myself and the way I look (I have yet to learn how to pluck/shave my eyebrows, though); and MEETING NEW PEOPLE. Preferably those that are as crazy as I am.

A few weeks ago, GB told me we have a lot of events to attend to. One is his cousin’s birthday party in Makati and the others are upcoming Open Mic Nights (one in Ortigas and one in Quezon City). I got so excited coz I really enjoy going out and be with my friends. Aside from the fact that it keeps me preoccupied, I get to meet a lot of people. Ooops, don’t get me wrong.. I’m not looking for ’someone’ yet, it’s just fun meeting people.

I already met a lot of people, I became friends with those who were just strangers to me, but last night was different. I met a cool guy. A celebrity.

GB’s cousin’s party was held at Conway’s Bar in Makati Shangri-La. She had Sabado Boys (don’t know if you’re familiar with the group but it’s composed of Luke Mejares, Paolo Santos, Jimmy Bondoc and Mike) to perform.

The boys were all nice but one of them stood out — Luke Mejares.

After their performance, Luke stayed and joined our group. Drinking, dancing, chatting, picture taking — he was one cool guy. He even told us to add him on Facebook (the personal account) and tag him in our photos.

Earlier today, I saw that GB and Luke were already friends on Facebook. Being the Miss Congeniality and Miss Curiosity that I am, I added him up and see if he’s gonna accept my request (or he was just drunk when he asked us to tag his photos). He accepted my request and to my surprise, he sent me private messages (as in message, not FB chat) and our conversation went like this:

AC: nakooo… hindi ko na namalayan ang oras. pero tingin ko past 3 na yun. kase 4am na ko nakauwi e. haha! di ko na nga napansin nawala na kayo e hahaa..

AC: oo buti na lang tumakas ka. lasing na lahat eh. buti nakauwi ng maayos. hehe

Mondays – Spicy Fingers Greenbelt 2, Thursdays – Votre Bar (near ABSCBN) tapos ngayon ayan (not sure if regular na to) Sunday sa Phi tapos may mga upcoming pang inaayos. oha diba para akong manager nya. hehehe. pero pag meron pang iba sige sabihan kita! para masaya! go go go! ayan punta na ko sa Phi to watch GB. pero saglit lang kame coz we have work tomorrow. sa mga bangengean na gimik, dun sama mo beauty mo para masaya.
Luke: go go go powerpuff sabihan mo lang aketch!!:) di din me makaalis 2nyt cos kararating lang ng parents ko galing bohol. il give my # para mattxt mo din ibang sked pero ok na ok kung sa qc area lang para lapit lang!!!hehee 091********

Isn’t he nice and down to earth? Okay, I know his name is not as big as the ones who enjoy fame in showbusiness nowadays, but the fact that he used to be part of South Border is one great achievement for him. And I really find him approachable, he was even the first to come to us and joined our barkada.

It’s definitely not a new experience for me to rub elbows with the stars coz most of my friends’ network belong in the entertainment world. I also have some celebrity friends (mga long lost na nga lang.. haha!) and acquaintances. Even my ex-boyfriend’s brother (and ex would-be sister-in-law) and some friends belong in showbusiness. But this experience with Luke was one fun night for me (see, he was the first pa to give his mobile #). I don’t know what’s in his mind (if he really enjoyed our company, he wants to expand his network pa and fanbase or he likes one of my friends or si GB mismo.. hahaha.. joke lang! ) but for me, mingling with ordinary people like me and my friends is one cool trait that I admire about him.

Oh, and by the way, I really loved his Rock With You rendition.

It’s very seldom that I watch musical plays coz everytime I do, I always end up scratching my skin and wiping blood off my nose. Hahah! Just kidding. The truth is, watching plays is a bit pricey. Apart from it, I do not enjoy it as much as going out and traveling.

But yesterday, I watched Legally Blonde with my friend at the Meralco Theater. My friend’s colleagues bought a lot of tickets but their companions backed out a few days before the show. They asked if we can buy the tickets and we obliged. I don’t know why I agreed on watching this.. for a change, maybe? If I can still remember it right, the last play that I saw was “Aladdin” by Repertory in Greenbelt. And that was years ago, I think I was still in school then. Hahah!

Anyhoo, even if I’m not into this kind of thing, I really enjoyed the show. I loved the movie Legally Blonde (though it involves annoying sorority stuff that’s very much different from our sorority back in college). Hats off to Nikki Gil for successfully playing the role of Elle Woods. She’s so cute and funny. I was laughing hard everytime she would throw her nonsense slash ridiculous lines.

What surprised me is Nyoy Volante’s performance. I mean, yeah, he already starred in Hairspray (but I wasn’t able to see it so technically it was my first time to see him do musical play) but he’s known to be an acoustic singer and I never thought he can do this kind of act. He played Emmett here, Elle’s ally who later on became her love interest (they didn’t look good though coz Nikki’s way taller than Nyoy.. hehehe ) But performance wise, Nyoy really was great.

*** It was just effing hassle coz I forgot to bring my eyeglasses, hence, I couldn’t recognize the faces on stage (even if we were at the Orchestra Center). I think my friend was kinda annoyed that I kept on bugging her and asking her “sino sya?”. When Professor came out, I asked her “sinetch?”, she answered “Si ano.. yung kamuka ni Sweet.. yung kamuka ni John Lapus.. yung nasa banda” Then I realized, “ahhh.. si Jett Pangan” Hahahah! Laughtrip!

Whenever I see the trailer of The Wedding on ABS-CBN, I couldn’t help it.. I always smile. A few days ago, when I saw it (for the nth time) I even slapped (mild lang naman) my mom’s arm. I’m sooo weird I become violent whenever I get kilig, the reason why nobody in my barkada doesn’t wanna sit beside me whenever we watch romantic comedy flicks.

Believe it or not — I am a fan of Anne Curtis. I know most of you don’t like her and find her really annoying, especially her kaartehan and her high-pitched voice. A lot of people din say she has no talent (I won’t argue anymore, totoo naman yun.. haha!) Wa ako keber, I really like her. Walang basagan ng trip! Haha! When she was in GMA, I didn’t notice her, I was never a viewer of any of her teenybopper shows there. When she transferred to ABS-CBN and landed a good role in Hiram (it was a teleserye starring Kris Aquino & Dina Bonnevie — oh yeah, Kris had a teleserye.. harhar!) I began to like her. There’s something in her that I really admire. Perhaps it’s her transparency that made me adore her. Also, she’s so bubbly and her cheerful disposition is really contagious. She’s so cute when she screams. Hehe.

She may not be the typical icon that people would want to idolize because of her not-so-spotless image in showbusiness (there’s a lot of bad publicity about her — most of which are true), but the fact that she’s not afraid to show the real Anne is one thing that made me look up to her. She cries when she’s hurt, she laughs when she’s happy. She’s just so real.

She is not a “living saint” nor an angel wannabe. She’s sometimes a bad girl, but being bad at times doesn’t mean she’s a bitch for eternity. After all, sabi ko nga.. sino ba sa atin ang malinis? Ako hinde. Hahaha.. jooooke! Basta ayoko ng mga taong mapagmalinis, pero sa likod ng maskara ay nagtatago ang isang impakta… weeeeeeeeee!!! (wala po ako pinapatamaan, pramis )

Another thing that I like about her is her fashion statement. Sana ganun ako kapayat para makapagsuot din ako ng mga ganun.

Anyway, let me get to the main point of this entry..

I am excited to see the series!!! I so so like her leading men — Derek & Zanjoe. Again, kung wala man talent ang dalawang yummyballs na itech, wala ako keber. Basta ang gwapo lang nila. Sorry, hindi kase ako mahilig sa mga boy next door at mga Aga-wannabe. Mas gusto ko yung mga mukang brusko, yung mga lalakeng-lalake ang dating at yung kayang-kaya ka ilaban ng bugbugan pag ikaw ay inaapi. Haha! Gusto ko yung mga mukang basura, pero pag inamoy mo yummy naman pala.. yung mga kayang-kaya ako bugbugin — sa PAGMAMAHAL. Wahahahah!

Sa totoo lang, yung mga lalakeng mukang maton.. kapag sila ay tinamaan ni Kupido, ay nakow… laglag na lahat ng pwede malaglag… ANG SARAP! Ang sarap nila magmahal… Naranasan ko na yan. Ayun, sa awa ng Diyos… hindi na naka-move on si Kuya sa sobrang pagkainlab. Acheche.. sori naman makapal lang talaga fezz ko at nagbuhat na ko ng sariling bangko. Sori naman po. Single lang at walang ibang pwede magbuhat ng aking bangko kundi ako. Haha!

Bwiset narinig ko bigla yung kanta nya at nakita ko sa GMA (nanonood ako ng late night news dahil sa ABS ay si Bespren Games Uplate Live na nakakairita so sa siete muna ako nood balita.. shet haba ng explanation ko, whatever). Ah basta ganun nga narinig ko yung nakakairitang kanta tapos takte nakita ko sa TV si Marian pala kumanta ng talaga namang nakakatindig balahibo at makabagbag tengang kanta na yun?!!

Ay wait.. yun din ba yung kinanta nya sa SOP na may nip-slip sya na moment? Na pinadala mo sa kin ang video, GB! Manyak ka talaga! Wahahahah!

Ah basta.. ayun, share ko lang kase naiirita ako. Pwede pala singer yun??? Shet… next time di na ko magugulat kung pati si Dingdong singer na din. Namaaan kase sa lyrics walang kwenta pucha parang Tagalog version ng “Realize” eh, panay “Sabay sabay tayo” ang narinig ko. At ang melody talaga namang nakakaindak na parang nakakita ka ng Ninja Geese!

Sabagay kaya nga tinawag na novelty eh. Para madali masakyan ng masa. Tsk. Tanga ko talaga.

Haaaaaaaaaayyyyy… ano na nga ba ang depinisyon ngayon ng TALENT? Pabonggahan na lang batalaga ng career? O Pataasan ng ratings ng mga palabas? E pucha wala na ko naintindihan sa mga palabas kundi mga remakes na di naman talaga remake dahil binago na takbo ng istorya mula sa original. Ayan tuloy wala na ginawa si Marian kundi sumayaw ng Marimar, kakaumay maaaaaaaan! Tsaka si Marimar diba sa orig batang dagat? E san ka naman nakakita ng batang dagat na kulay gatas ang kutis? Bwiset.

Obvious ba? FAN ako ni Marian. Bwahahhaha!

Sorry ranting. Natatamad pa ko magsulat ng sensible eh. Hehehe.

Wala lang.. malungkot na nga ang araw ko ngayon at nabbwisit ako sa work tapos eto pa.. karagdagang kalungkutan..

It’s confirmed.. he’s gone. Ngayon-ngayon lang. Actually a lot of friends were asking me a while ago but I have no TV here (it’s an owpis) and I couldn’t take a peek at those chismis sites online. So I just decided to ask my friend who’s working for Inquirer.. eh bago ko pa sya tanungin ang status line nya sa YM “RIP, Francis M. ” .. Ayun na nga.

May he rest in peace. It was a good fight after all. His best “music” of all time.

THE PLOT

Love me again is about young lovers, Arah (Angel Locsin) and Migo (Piolo Pascual) who are both natives of Bukidnon. They have once parted ways when Migo left Bukidnon to study elsewhere and wandered around the world. When Migo came back to the province they rekindled their romance while planning to run his family’s ranch. However, Arah was forced to go to Australia (thus, the title Land Down Under) to work in a ranch when her father encountered an accident and lost the physical capability to work for his family. Migo, on the other hand, stayed in Bukidnon to pursue his dreams of establishing his own ranch.

In Australia, Arah worked hard to provide for her family’s needs in Bukidnon. On the other hand, when Migo failed in his ranch, he went to Australia to work for the man that Arah was about to marry, the man who owns the ranch. It was then that Migo tried to win Arah back… the love story went on… and it all boiled down to one thing: they lived happily ever after.

MY REVIEW

I would have to say that I didn’t find something extraordinary about this film. Even the sight of Piolo’s abs isn’t unusual anymore. It’s everywhere. Kidding aside, the story is very common and predictable. A story of a Filipina who works abroad to fulfill her dreams for her family. On a lighter note, since it is ordinary, it is very realistic that most Filipinos, I guess, have gone through the same story.

The good things about this movie:

(1) Perfect cinematography. They got the best views of Bukidnon. My favorite part is the kissing scene on top of the lush green mountains of Bukidnon to the delight of the horses around them. The scene was super romantic that it made me shiver (hekhek! ) Sobrang ganda ng Bukidnon at parang feel ko ngayon magpunta don. Ang laki ng naging papel ng Bukidnon sa buhay ko before but I never had the chance to go there (calling the attention of Duchess.. )

(2) Angel is a revelation. Her acting has fairly matured (as in better than her Let The Love Begin ek ek days), although there were some scenes wherein she unintentionally let her teenybopper gestures show (the way she snubs Piolo during the “ligaw moments”). To be fair with her, she improved her craft in making viewers cry, I really shed some tears when she was pleading for Piolo’s consideration to let her go to Australia for her family. Also, she rides the horses like a pro. Another scene that moved me was her hard times in Australia where she barely gets some rest and works hard like a male. Sabay maririnig mo yung linya na “Hindi ito ang buhay na inakala ko dito.. hindi ito..” charrrring!

At ang pinakapanalong scene sa lahat:

(Arah at the stable in the middle of the night when Migo came in..)

Arah: Huwag. (Pause). Akala ko okay na ako. Pero bigla kang dumating. Pinaramdam mo sa akin kung paano lumaban, paano maging masaya. Kahit anong pilit ko, hindi kita maalis sa isip ko eh… (sabay emote.. huhuhu tumulo ang luha ko talaga! )

(3) Soundtrack. Promise, na-move ako ng mga kanta.. at tipong yun na lang yata ang nagpapaiyak at nagpapainlab sa akin sa buong pelikula. Haha!

(4) It doesn’t just talk about love, it shows Filipino values; one of which is the love for family. Even if it is a love story, the relationship between Arah & Migo is not the typical pa-tweetums. It shows that true love comes with understanding, support and compassion.

(5) It has a lot of positive vibes. No villains and most characters have optimistic views in life. It’s not the typical Pinoy film wherein the story is being controlled solely by the villain.

What I didn’t like about the film:

(1) I know the love scene is the most sought after in this film because there were a lot of reports that it’s very passionate and artistic but when I saw it I remembered Claudine Barretto & Aga Muhlach’s love scene in Kailangan Kita, another Rory Quintos/Star Cinema Film in 2002. The settings were also the same: at the stable (or was it a bodega in Kailangan Kita?). Nothing new for Direk Rory.

(2) Piolo’s signature acting: he’s always trying to soften his strong features through his “paamo ng mukha” acting but it doesn’t work. He can’t do anything about his strong features that sometimes he becomes too stiff on camera; even more when he’s talking softly and pigil na pigil to burst his emotions.

(3) Angel’s effortless portrayal of a poor & uneducated woman.. as in naaaliw ako everytime she tries to speak English carabao in the movie tapos parang walang kaeffort-effort si Angel na magbarok.. hehe.. panalo! (e.g. “My mother is sick. She die. I stop.”)

This film is so-so. It’s not so good, but it’s not terrible naman. However, it’s unjust to compare this with A Very Special Love (I’ve heard/read a lot of comparison between the two) since they are of different genre and target audience. A Very Special Love is super date movie that’s full of kilig moments; Love Me Again is a serious film for mature audience.

For this kind of film, I think Milan & Dubai are way way better than Love Me Again.

Oo na, sige na aaminin ko na.. ganito po talaga kame ng mga kaibigan ko. Halos every Tuesday nandito kame sa Eastwood para manood ng gig ni RP at mainlab at magfeeling inlab. Akala lang ng mga tao mga intrimitida at mga pasosyal na nilalang kame. Pero hinde! Jologs po talaga kame. Napakaswerte nga naman ng mga mata ng mga kaibigan kong mga landicious at bumuhos ang mga Adan. Pero sige, EBA na sila kung EBA man talaga. Just the same, yummy pa rin. Sabi nga ng boss ko na fanatic ni Piolo “okay lang kahit bakla, at least yummy pa rin. Kesa naman mapapunta ka sa bakla pero panget naman. At least bakla man sila, may kachika ka naman at may kasama ka magshopping diba.. pwede mo pa maging fashion consultant” Nyahahah! Alam nyo, di naman talaga ako fan ni Fafa Sam, sadyang ang sharap lang nya tingnan. Dati nakita ko na sya sa Glorietta pero no pansin ang lola nyo dahil mas mabilis ang mata ko kay Fafa Zanjoe dahil yummy ever yun.. nakanaman sa mga muscles (sabi nga ng isang opismate ko “d maskels! d maskels!”) pero kanina nung nakita ko sa Eastwood si Sam napasama na din ako sa kilig ng mga kaibigan ko. Ganun yata talaga, mas masarap magpakajologs kapag lahat kayo jologs at walang KJ at pasosyal. Hahaha! Tsaka in fairview kay Kuya maski paos sya ay nagpaunlak pa din syang kumanta. Actually show ni RP talaga to, nanood lang si Sam at Bituin.. at napakanta na din dahil sa pangungulit ng audience. Isinama ko na rin dito si Bituin na panalo talaga umemote sa stage with Fafa RP.. nadala nga ako sa linya nilang “someone to watch over me… hmmmmm” (okay payn, wishful thinking again! ).. kachika pa namin si Bituin after the show kase pare-pareho kameng galing sa isang unibersidad at kapareho din namin na “whitehouse babies” kung saan ako ay napalayas ni Mang Boy dahil sa ako ay isang masamang bata na gumagawa ng mga di kanais-nais na bagay sa aking apartment. Bwahahaha!

Pero kung si Fafa Lloydy siguro ang nakadaupang palad ko, malamang…. nakahubo na ako ngayon.. malalaglag na lahat ng pwede malaglag! Wahahaha! Bastush ko talaga pramis. Chingkit din naman ako ah, kita nyo o kamuka ko naman si Liz Uy.. wahahaha! feelingera lang ako, sori mga pipol. Pagbigyan ang isang sawimpalad tulad ko.

Sige na eto na nga. Umaga na eh nandito pa din ako at nagsusulat. Eto yata ang namiss ko nung aking kabataan: ang magpakajologs sa artista. Kung kelan tumanda tsaka nag-inarte ng ganito. Haha!
