GOSH, I’M 26! [ELBOW ROOM NIGHT OUT]

Posted by AC on Sunday Aug 8, 2010

After our zipline adventure, we headed off to Metrowalk to have dinner and some booze at Elbow Room.

pantawid gutom

It was just a simple night out yet meaningful coz I was with my supahfriends. :)

Jimmy, AJ, Noelle, AC, Lei, Mae, Wal

Che, AC, Lei, Amae, Mae, Wal

What I love about this night is that we were not supposed to go out anymore coz we already did the zipline and some of them were already with me the night before so I thought they were already tired to go out.

Che and Amae just came back from their respective provinces as well. But they didn’t forget to drop by Starbucks and bought me a cutie cake. Hahah!

I feel so blessed to have a lot of wonderful friends like them (at the same time I feel sad for my wallet/bank account coz I had to celebrate not just once, but several times.. haha! )

Nevertheless, it was a happy birthday for me! :)

GOSH, I’M 26! [SALUBONG at PANGGO's]

Posted by AC on Saturday Aug 7, 2010

Last week, I celebrated my 26th birthday. Like some of you know, I used to celebrate special occasions with my friends coz my family is not here with me. My parents are based abroad and my 2 siblings already have their own lives (my sister had just given birth while my brother’s preggy girlfriend is nearing her due so I wasn’t expecting that they’d come over and celebrate with me) :)

So how did my birthday go about?

Last Saturday, July 31, I went out with a friend supposedly to watch his friend’s gig at Moomba along Mother Ignacia (I didn’t bother to invite my other friends coz we went out the night before). Unfortunately, there was a private function at Moomba that we had to wait for a couple of hours before we can come in and watch his friends perform. So we transferred to Panggo’s (Morato) to watch a gig (his friend’s again). I am so not used to being with a guy anymore and we already ran out of things to talk about so I asked GB and our barkada if they can come over to join us. Good thing, they have already recharged and was ready to hang out again. And so they came.

It became some sort of “salubong” for my birthday and I was happy coz they sang a birthday song for me, even greeting me on stage. :)

Caca, JC, Kyle, Kuya Glenn, Jimmy, AC, Lei

GB, Caca, JC, Kyle, Kuya Glenn, AC, Lei

that's GB singing "Englishman in New York"

Yeah, it was a salubong coz…

After getting intoxicated by alcohol, we decided to have “pares” at Bestfriends along Aurora in QC.

Two things that made me smile on our way to the parking lot: (1) there was a car drifting along Morato (My friend was able to take video of it, too bad I didn’t get a copy from her); (2) After almost a decade I received white roses (there was a flower vendor at the street, I didn’t realize that my boys bought some until they gave the flowers to me) :)

We called it a night after having “midnight” snack at Bestfriends while laughing to JC’s silly questions on why a certain meal costs 61 pesos.

He was bugging a waiter while saying this..

“Eh baket ba kase 61pesos pa? Para saan yung piso? Pwede namang 65 diba? O Kaya 60? Baket 61 pa?”

He was asking that over and over (he’s makulet when he’s drunk) while leaving us puzzled.. onga noh, baket 61 pesos pa? Hahahaha!

PS: GB gave me this gift with a heartwarming note. :) I love it coz he’s not used to giving material things but he had something special for me. :)

Isn’t he the sweetest friend? :)

HAPPY 27th, NOELLE!

Posted by AC on Friday Jul 23, 2010

This post is just to update you on my adventures as a celebrity.. nyahahhaa.. just kidding. :P

Like I always do everytime we celebrate something special, I’m posting some pictures from Noelle’s post birthday gimmick last night.

Noelle is a true-blue Gogolosh; she’s one of my supahfwends. Her birthday is on July 21 (last Wednesday). That night, Amae and I went out coz there was a comedy gig (and a Battle of the Bands) at Fuel Up Bar (Angel Locsin is one of the owners but I didn’t see her there. However, they told us she will be there on August 4 for the Finals of the Battle of the Bands — kaya tara friends na may kras sa kanya, let’s go! haha!). We were supposed to meet up with Noelle there and have a little celebration for her birthday. Unfortunately, she fell asleep coz of the bad weather. According to her, that was her worst birthday ever, “walang tao sa bahay, malakas ang ulan, wala akong auto..” That’s so sad, we even had a cute cake for her and GB brought his gift for her.

The next day she sent us an SMS and said sorry for not showing up. But she promised that she will be there at Votre, and so she did.

It was really fun and I know she enjoyed the night, too coz there were lots of people that night including our celebrity friends (naks feeling close). Remember when I told you guys in my last entry that Luke Mejares would like to join us in watching GB’s gigs? He kept his promise. A few days ago we were texting and he called me up to say that he will go to Votre to watch, along with Jimmy Bondoc. What’s more exciting was the presence of Ehra Madrigal, DJ Myke’s girl (one of the Sabado Boys).

fwendships!

feeling close ahahaha!

We brought a cute cake again (masarap pala sa Mary Grace — pramis! :) )

look -- my SHARKY teeth are back :(

Happy Birthday!

si GB nagdadalaga.. blush ng blush.. haha!

tropapips

ang saya-saya

Votre Management (yung favorite waiter ko nasa likod)

Aside from the presence of celebrities, the night was extra special coz one of the pioneers of Pinoy Stand Up Comedy, Allan Manalo (he’s living in the US), came and did a set.

My bad, I stole the limelight from him.

Hahahahha! So that gives you an idea of how fun the night was (and how drunk I was)

I just hope that Noelle had a good time with us kahit simple lang ang celebration and small cake lang ang naibigay namin sa kanya ni Amae. :)

HANGING OUT WITH A CELEBRITY

Posted by AC on Sunday Jul 18, 2010

It’s been months since DD and I broke up and I’m really living my life to the fullest. I enjoy being single and good thing, my friends are very supportive and always keep me company. I always tell them I need to have something new to look forward to. Like new activities, sports, parties, etc. One of the few things that I accomplished/will accomplish are: hitting the gym again (it’s been more than 2 years since I went to the gym); trying out cuisines that I used to hate; included marathon, rock climbing, bungee jumping (I have tried the zipline and I’m planning to go to the new one in Quezon City and also, the one in Davao.. hopefully soon) in my to-do list; reinventing myself and the way I look (I have yet to learn how to pluck/shave my eyebrows, though); and MEETING NEW PEOPLE. Preferably those that are as crazy as I am.

A few weeks ago, GB told me we have a lot of events to attend to. One is his cousin’s birthday party in Makati and the others are upcoming Open Mic Nights (one in Ortigas and one in Quezon City). I got so excited coz I really enjoy going out and be with my friends. Aside from the fact that it keeps me preoccupied, I get to meet a lot of people. Ooops, don’t get me wrong.. I’m not looking for ’someone’ yet, it’s just fun meeting people.

I already met a lot of people, I became friends with those who were just strangers to me, but last night was different. I met a cool guy. A celebrity.

GB’s cousin’s party was held at Conway’s Bar in Makati Shangri-La. She had Sabado Boys (don’t know if you’re familiar with the group but it’s composed of Luke Mejares, Paolo Santos, Jimmy Bondoc and Mike) to perform.

GB jammed with them.

And of course, being the jologs that we are.. we went picture taking with the boys.

Jimmy Bondoc, Jimmy Garcia (hahaha feeling celebrity din!), Caca, Amae, AC, Luke

Luke

Paolo Santos

DJ Myke

The boys were all nice but one of them stood out — Luke Mejares.

After their performance, Luke stayed and joined our group. Drinking, dancing, chatting, picture taking — he was one cool guy. He even told us to add him on Facebook (the personal account) and tag him in our photos.

Earlier today, I saw that GB and Luke were already friends on Facebook. Being the Miss Congeniality and Miss Curiosity that I am, I added him up and see if he’s gonna accept my request (or he was just drunk when he asked us to tag his photos). He accepted my request and to my surprise, he sent me private messages (as in message, not FB chat) and our conversation went like this:

Luke: haluuuuu!!!:)
AC: haluuuuuu!!!! nice profile pic! haha! :D (his profile pic is an old portrait, siguro grade school or HS pic)
Luke: hahaha di pa ako laspag nyan!!!:) uy,twas nice hanging out wd u guys kagabi!!!:)
:) yep yep! it was fun! we enjoyed the night. nice to meet you din. galing ng set! :)
Luke: buti naman!!!:) hope to c u next time!!:) teka, kung may gig si papa gb and magwatch kayo pls let me know para sasama beauty ko!!!hehehe
:) pero pag meron pang iba sige sabihan kita! para masaya! go go go! :) ayan punta na ko sa Phi to watch GB. pero saglit lang kame coz we have work tomorrow. sa mga bangengean na gimik, dun sama mo beauty mo para masaya. :)

Isn’t he nice and down to earth? Okay, I know his name is not as big as the ones who enjoy fame in showbusiness nowadays, but the fact that he used to be part of South Border is one great achievement for him. And I really find him approachable, he was even the first to come to us and joined our barkada.

It’s definitely not a new experience for me to rub elbows with the stars coz most of my friends’ network belong in the entertainment world. I also have some celebrity friends (mga long lost na nga lang.. haha!) and acquaintances. Even my ex-boyfriend’s brother (and ex would-be sister-in-law) and some friends belong in showbusiness. But this experience with Luke was one fun night for me (see, he was the first pa to give his mobile #). I don’t know what’s in his mind (if he really enjoyed our company, he wants to expand his network pa and fanbase or he likes one of my friends or si GB mismo.. hahaha.. joke lang! :P ) but for me, mingling with ordinary people like me and my friends is one cool trait that I admire about him. :)

Oh, and by the way, I really loved his Rock With You rendition. :)

REUNITED WITH THE CAPTAIN

Posted by AC on Friday Jun 18, 2010

Like I said in one of my latest entries, Sid and I are back to the old times. Like talking to each other a lot and going out. But not dating, mind you.

Last week, our gimmick happened after a few months of not seeing each other. I met up with him and his friend in a bar that I frequent in Quezon City.

He changed a bit, he became a lil behaved than before (or probably coz my other friends were there and he just didn’t want to make a scene. Haha! ). Physically, he still has this boy-next-door look that launched a thousand pimps (haha… sorry, inside joke. :P )

I enjoyed the night coz it was kinda different than the old times. Like we treat each other now as friends and nothing more. No more malice (at least on my part.. haha.. )

And why am I writing about him? Hahaha!

OLD FRIENDS

Posted by AC on Tuesday Apr 20, 2010

After our gastronomic adventure at Wings n Things we were supposed to accompany Nheng to hail a cab home. As we were walking from Wings n Things to the facade of Home Depot, a pair of arms from behind showed up. It was Ezel, a college friend.

I was supposed to join another friend’s group in a nearby bar after accompanying Nheng at the taxi bay but we decided to join Ezel and the rest of our college friends first. It’s been years since we last saw the gang (awwww… I miss my college years!)

I was surprised to see Boyet there, my friend’s (Che) ex-boyfriend. If I’m not mistaken they were together for 7 years. The group told us it was Boyet’s despedida as he’s leaving again for the Middle East after a quick vacation here in Manila. He is already based there with his girlfriend, also a college acquaintance.

this goes out to my friend.. and the guy beside me

I saw signs of tension in him when we joined the group, but I tried to play comic again just to break the ice. Just like the old times. Of course, I understand where he’s coming from as that was the first time in years that we saw each other again after he broke my friend’s heart. Perhaps he was feeling agitated, or maybe the guilt was still there. Or probably he was afraid that we would make fun of him or make him feel the guilt once more. I don’t know. But whatever it is that he was feeling then became kinda absurd now coz I know in my heart he didn’t have any reason to feel that way anymore. I have forgiven him long ago. Of course, at first I hated him and wanted him to burn in hell. But that’s it.. I grew tired of sowing anger in my heart. After all, he was still a close friend, apart from being my best bud’s boyfriend.

I even admired him for being brutally honest that caused my friend’s heart be shattered into a million pieces. But I guess that was the best way to fix each other’s lives in the long run — breaking up and getting better. And I commend him for making my friend better than ever. For inadvertently teaching her to know the value of independence and maturity.

And now that all wounds are healed, and bruises are gone.. I know she already has a lot to offer to whoever will come along and love her the way she has always been wanting to be loved. Someone who deserves the brand new Che… and my love as well. Hahaha!

CHRISTMAS CELEB: VOL 1 (THE COMICS/DITZY DINER)

Posted by AC on Thursday Dec 24, 2009

In line with the season, parties are everywhere. Until now, I haven’t taken a rest from partying to death.. everyday, everynight…

For more than a year now, watching my friends do Stand Up Comedy has been one of my constant activities. Through this, I gained a lot of friends and found a new place to hang out at, Ditzy Diner. I love the place because it gives me that homey feeling, that even if I go there all by myself I won’t end up lonely for the rest of the night since most people there became my friends. Those whom I can spend fun nights with, at the same time worth giving my trust.

Last Friday, December 18, we had our Christmas party at Ditzy Diner. It was the usual Open Mic Night plus a lot of surprises. We had some sort of “awarding” ceremonies for the comics for constantly performing even if they do it for free. Another thing that made this night extra special was the appearance of Chin of MYMP. Since it was an Open Mic, he performed on stage with our friends and regular performers.

But the highlight was the “gift-giving” to all regular customers who have been religiously attending and making Open Mic Nights a huge success and a whole lotta fun. They all deserved this cute little gift…
